A Gilt Edged Investment

It was a privilege to be invited to produce the marketing material for one of the world’s most famous department stores, Jenners on Princes Street, Edinburgh.

Jenners is one of the world’s oldest department stores, having opened in 1838, some 11 years before Harrods in Knightsbridge, 20 years before Macy’s in New York and over 70 years before Selfridges in Oxford Street, London.

Befitting this iconic building, recognised as Princes Street’s ‘Jewel in the Crown,’ a hard backed, cloth covered book was produced with a gilt foil applied to the cover.

A muted colour palette was chosen in keeping with the building’s opulent carved stone façade, which was complemented by the old-style serif font, Hoefler Text by American typeface designer Jonathan Hoefler.

It was a pleasure to work on such a prestigious project and all the more satisfying to discover that the sale has now been successfully concluded.
