The Reel
House

A trip down memory lane...

Glasgow has always had a love affair with the silver screen to the extent that it was known as ‘Cinema City’ between 1920 and 1960, due to the huge number of cinemas and the vast attendances that they enjoyed.

With the team here at P4P all cinephiles, you can imagine the excitement when we were invited to create a marketing campaign for the former Odeon Cinema on West Regent Street, Glasgow. This 1934 art deco building, which was originally the Paramount Cinema, is now being given a new lease of life as a comprehensive refurbishment transforms the building to provide 14,400 sq ft of unique office space.

Our first task was to rename the building and following a list of options being drawn up ‘The Reel House’ was selected. A new brand was then created utilising a strip of film to reflect the building’s history.

Coming Soon...

To introduce ‘The Reel House’ to the marketplace a teaser brochure was sent out along with glasses that enabled the recipients to view the building in 3D.

This was in turn followed by the main brochure, which referenced a selection of feature films to highlight the building’s many benefits. The centre of the brochure featured an ‘Intermission’ booklet containing images of the well-known entertainers, from Dylan to Dusty Springfield, who had performed at the Odeon.

The Reel House has a rich history dating back to the 1930’s. The following images feature a selection of entertainers who have stepped through its doors.

Digital & Social Media

As one of Glasgow’s most loved cinemas we felt that a social media campaign would help to stir many happy memories, inform people about the building's renaissance and highlight the space on offer. Spanning 16 weeks the Twitter campaign delivered an interesting mix of historical information and construction progress updates.
